Position: Forensic Therapist (Full-Time, In-Person)
Location: Dr. Danielle Forshee, LLC: Red Bank, NJ
Start Date: As soon as available, with flexibility for the right candidate
Overview
This role involves delivering structured clinical interventions to individuals and families engaged in litigation, addressing high-conflict dynamics, parent-child contact problems, and other custody-related challenges.
This role is well-suited for a fully licensed clinician seeking to build competence in therapeutic work within a forensic context.
About the Practice
Founded in 2016, Dr. Danielle Forshee, LLC is based in Red Bank, New Jersey, and focuses exclusively on matters arising in Family Court. The practice serves in neutral roles to support families navigating high-conflict divorce, custody disputes, parent-child contact problems, and the complex psychological dynamics that often accompany these cases.
At its core, forensic psychology sits at the intersection of psychology and the law. In this context, our work involves applying clinical expertise to help the court make sound, developmentally informed decisions that support the well-being of children and families.
This includes delivering structured, court-involved therapeutic services, contributing meaningfully to legal processes, and maintaining neutrality in all aspects of casework.
Scope of Work
The clinician will begin by delivering reunification therapy services under structured supervision and will also take on individual therapy cases. As competence and confidence develop, the caseload will gradually expand to include high-conflict co-parenting cases, and if aligned with interest and aptitude, mediation and Parent Coordination (PC) work.
Cases are actively involved in litigation and require consistent neutrality, clinical precision, and effective communication with legal professionals. The clinician will work with children (ages 6+), adults, and families navigating custody disputes, parent-child contact issues, and broader family restructuring dynamics. Regular interaction with attorneys, Judges, Guardians ad Litems (GAL’s), and PC’s is expected.
All referrals are provided directly by the practice; the clinician is not responsible for marketing or generating their own caseload. Weekly one-to-one consultation, expert supervision, and written work review are built into the onboarding and ongoing support process. Prior experience with court involved cases is not required.
Licensing and Training
Applicants must hold an active, unrestricted license to practice independently in New Jersey. Due to the nature of the work, this position is not open to provisionally licensed clinicians or interns. As your scope of work expands, formal training through the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC) will be required. Partial reimbursement is available for select AFCC trainings related to PC and parent-child contact problem interventions.
Candidate Profile
This role requires a clinician who is emotionally steady, clinically grounded, and able to remain neutral in high conflict environments. Ideal candidates will have experience in high-stakes, emotionally charged settings such as crisis, psychiatric services, or child protection, and demonstrate strong boundaries, non-reactivity, and sound decision-making. Applicants should be self-directed, comfortable managing a caseload without micromanagement, and interested in the intersection of mental health and family law. The work is highly specialized and demanding but also deeply meaningful and professionally enriching.
Compensation and Structure
This is a 1099 independent contractor position. All services are conducted on a private-pay, retainer basis. Clients pay directly, and all work is billed against a pre-paid retainer. Clinicians are not contracted with the courts, insurance companies, or third-party payers. Compensation is based on a percentage of fees collected, as follows:
• Months 0–18: 60% of $300/hour = $180/hour
• Months 19–30: 65% of $300/hour = $195/hour
• Month 31+: 70% of $300/hour = $210/hour
Progression through tiers is based on clinical growth, consistency, and completion of relevant training milestones.
