Education & Experience
Dr. Torres graduated from Rutgers University with a Master of Social Work in 2011 and earned a Doctor of Social Work from Capella University in 2019. She brings two decades of experience in the child welfare system, Family and DCPP court, New Jersey’s children’s system of care, the child protective substance abuse initiative and various community-based agencies. Amanda has extensive experience working with individuals affected by substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions.
Dr. Torres adopts a solution-focused approach in her work and prioritizes using current research to inform interventions while consistently incorporating up to date best practices. Her focus is on individual, couples and family therapy specializing in matters where anger or substance use has been a problem or source of contention. Dr. Torres is a Certified Anger Management Specialist (CAMS-II) through the National Anger Management Association (NAMA) and trained in the Gottman Method. For anger management matters, she accepts cases involved in Superior Court, Family Part and Municipal Court. In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Torres serves as part-time instructor at Rutgers University’s School of Social Work.
