Dr. Amanda Torres, DSW, LSW

Education & Experience

Dr. Torres obtained her master’s degree in social work from Rutgers University and her doctorate in social work from Capella University. She has two decades of experience in the child welfare system where she has worked in collaboration with the courts, New Jersey’s children’s system of care, child protective substance abuse initiative, and many other community-based agencies.

Dr. Torres has extensive experience in solution-focused work with families, and she values a multidisciplinary approach to practice and cross-systems collaboration. Dr. Torres also has extensive knowledge of best practices related to parent child visitation and stays abreast of the current research in visitation practices.

As a part-time lecturer in the School of Social Work at Rutgers University, Dr. Torres values the use of research to inform practice and will always incorporate current research and best practices into her work with children and families.
