A 2010 analysis of 10,000 Facebook statuses that included the phrases “breakup” and “broken up” found several spikes on the calendar for relationships ending: Just after Valentine’s Day, and the weeks leading up to spring break. Dr. Danielle Forshee, Psy.D., a psychologist and social worker in New Jersey who specializes in relationship counseling, offered a hypothesis on why relationships seem to follow the seasons.
